ADVICE FOR A CHIC, SUCCESSFUL PICNIC
1. Find the ideal spot
Even before thinking about the menu, finding the ideal spot for lunch on the grass is your prime concern. The picnic's success depends on it! Pleasant, comfortable, it must also offer a few age-old trees for a restful siesta in the shade. In Paris, there are many parks for tranquil picnics: Parc Monceau, Square Louis XIII, Jardin d’Acclimatation, Parc de Bagatelle, Parc des Buttes Chaumont and the Bois de Vincennes.
2. Plan a 100% french menu
A French-style picnic would not be complete without the vital "baguette-cheese-red wine" trio, together with raw vegetables, cold meats, quiches and savoury pastries, mixed salads, chocolates and pastries from Pierre Hermé Paris, seasonal fruit. Alongside a good wine, natural or sparkling mineral water is always a must.
"Alcohol abuse is bad for your health, please consume in moderation."
3. Don't forget anyhting!
For a truly faultless picnic, don't forget essentials. A rug, porcelain tableware, glasses, cutlery - including the iconic Swiss army knife with a corkscrew – a chopping board, paper napkins, an airtight bag, salt and pepper! A straw hat is also much appreciated on hot summer days. Last but not least, a decorative touch: a bouquet of fresh flowers and a red-and-white check tablecloth, in the purest tradition.
