The first high-end refuge in the French Alps, Le Refuge de La Traye is a real corner of paradise for travellers in search of authenticity, peacefulness and exclusiveness.
Up in the mountains at the heart of Les 3 Vallées, Le Refuge de La Traye can only be reached by electric vehicles, hiking or riding from the village of Les Allues. Far from noise, this prestigious Alpine hamlet is a hideaway in winter and summer, lost in time and close to omnipresent nature, the focus of all concerns. The Refuge pursues eco-responsibility through several environmentally friendly initiatives such as the use of electrical vehicles, the presence of beehives and a sheepfold on the estate.
Built of typical regional materials such as larchwood and flagstone, Le Refuge de La Traye has kept its soul as a mountain shelter. As also witnessed by the Chapel of Saint-Bernard, patron saint of climbers and Alpinists, which hosts private ceremonies just next door. Comprised of five rooms, a suite and a "mazot", Le Refuge accommodates a score of guests at most. In intimate family style, it offers all the comfort you need to feel totally at home.
Another treat is the luxury spa with views of snow-capped peaks to perfect your sense of escapism. Staying at Le Refuge de La Traye also means treats for the tastebuds when sharing a meal at La Table du Refuge with Italian chef Marco Meloni at the helm. Giving pride of place to Savoy's traditional gastronomy with delicious "raclettes" and "fondues", he also proposes a choice of Italian recipes both tasty and generous. Meals you can prolong in the Refuge's lounge area or the cigar cellar for aficionados.
Finally, for an unforgettable stay, a dedicated team will do its utmost to meet all your needs, whether organizing an excursion, a snowshoe outing or a children's movie: at Le Refuge de La Traye, everything is possible!
Rooms for cocooning
Typical of mountain chalets, a warm, cosy and authentic ambiance reigns in the rooms at Le Refuge de la Traye. Perfect down to the tiniest detail, their decor embodies classic Alpine traditions while giving priority to sophisticated, modern furniture. The warmth of wood, fabrics and generous volumes guarantee exceptional comfort. Unimpeded views of the mountians also ensure an aura of escapism and total deconnection. The Crocus, Marguerite, Gentiane and Violette rooms accommodate two guests, while the Orchidée room with its convertible sofa welcomes an extra adult or two children. Slightly apart from the hamlet, the Edelweiss suite (85 sq.m) offers more privacy. Its very large sitting-room with a fireplace is joined by a double bedroom, a mezzanine sleeping two more guests, and a private outdoor hot-tub. On three floors, it is ideal for a stay with family or friends.
